“Until My Voice Becomes Yours”

Daddy..."
Yes, Baby Girl?
How do you know when you're doing it right?"
I don't.
Every morning, I wake up holding two fears.
One, that I will love you so fiercely I protect you from the very struggles that would have made you strong.
The other, that I mistake hardship for wisdom and forget that children grow best where they are deeply loved.
So I make myself one promise.
I will not raise you to need me.
I will raise you to recognize yourself.
I will teach you that kindness is not weakness.
That tears are not surrender.
That truth often costs.
That beauty is something you practice.
That every room you enter is made better when you carry peace into it.
And one day,
when I am no longer the voice you hear every morning,
I pray another voice has become your own.
Quiet.
Steady.
Honest.
Compassionate.
And when someone asks,
"Who taught you that?"
I hope you smile.
Not because you remember my words.
But because you BECAME them.
